The US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur very much appreciates the work and sustained training that Junior Achievement does with young people and schools in Malaysia. Junior Achievement represents an outstanding American organisation, tradition and commitment to Malaysia’s future.

It was inspiring to celebrate Junior Achievement’s commitment to Malaysia, to meet with the sponsors and companies that supported Junior Achievement this year, and to see the energy, excitement, and joy of the students and their teachers. One of the best moments was realising that one of this year’s sponsors had come full circle – that Macro Kiosk Berhad’s founders were once Junior Achievement students and now are sponsors of a participating school. It was fantastic. Thank you very much for your collaboration with the Embassy.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Young Enterprise Program in Malaysia, one must wonder what explains the longevity of the program. The answer – a common purpose shared by our corporate sponsors and advisors to make a meaningful contribution to our young people so that they will be better equipped to face a fast changing world.
The JA Young Enterprise program is a wonderful and exciting program for the form 4 kids because first and foremost it is different f rom all the other programs in school. I am grateful that we can be part of it as it is a program that can build their entrepreneurial skills… it teaches them first hand about the running , the hard work and integrity that’s involved in running businesses. What I like the most about this program is that we get to work with wonderful corporate sponsors that allows these kids to experience something different. The part of running the business and interacting with customers builds their
characters and indeed provide great enjoyment . It’s HARDWORK but the experience is priceless.

The YE Program from a teacher’s perspective provides opportunities for students to explore possibilities, practice time management, master essential decision making skills, collaborate to reach a consensus and develop cutting edge business management skills over their peers. This program gives them the opportunity to be creative and takes students on a journey of self discovery that gives them a more matured outlook as well as exude an air of confidence which will help them flourish in the real world.
JA has made an immeasurable impact in the lives of young people not only in Malaysia but across the globe. JA has provided youngsters with a better understanding in the reality of business world, and has exposed them to career and employability skills for the future of these youngsters and an understanding of entrepreneurship skills to set up a business in the present or the near future.
YE program has been a spontaneous journey so far. We started out having big dreams and hopes for the company that was quite illogical and had some arguments during the journey. It was not easy but it was a memorable and worthy experience. In the end, I learned to corporate with others, think logically and always to do my best!
It’s like treading unknown ground, you do not know if you are doing it right but you hope you are not getting it wrong. As a first timer in business, everything was confusing, but now I have grasped a few concepts. Failing is a good way to spot flaws so this has taught me not to be too afraid of it, I have learnt to just not give up.

The people in JA Malaysia were so helpful and kind from my very first volunteer experience to the most recent. I was genuinely touched and could not have asked for a better team to help organise my volunteering experience. The lessons and values that I have learnt during my time in JA Malaysia is what I have take with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, JA Malaysia, for this inspiring experience and so much more!

Volunteering with JA Malaysia was an eye opening experience. The program was perfectly suited for the Primary school students to learn about financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills. The materials provided to volunteers were easy to understand and precisely described the scope. Personally, I had fun and felt it was a great opportunity in providing the students a better understanding of financial literary at a younger age.

HSBC volunteers are grateful for this opportunity, and we were very glad to see the students gaining valuable experience with the entrepreneur, financial and banking concepts and ideas. The JA staff did an awesome job in terms of preparation, presentation and creating fun atmosphere for the students to learn. The materials, concepts, games and ideas are well designed to attract students’ interest and attention. Kudos to the coordinators in managing the huge number of students with ease and fun while achieving the learning purpose. Looking forward to more volunteer opportunities soon.

I have been involved in Young Enterprise Program since 2000. In all these years, I have seen thousands of students benefiting in many ways when they participate in this program. Initially, when you start off the program, you will be faced with multitudes of challenges. However, the learning experience of every achiever as well as advisors towards the culmination of the program is the cherry on the cake. My 32 years of teaching has been more meaningful being involved in YE. It has made me more insightful and enterprising in my life experience.

The Young Enterprise (YE) Club is a very active club in secondary schools and students who join the YE Club gain a lot of knowledge and develop skills which cannot be taught from books. It teaches students crucial life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, empathy, as well as learning to accept failure as a part of the growth process, that will help them navigate their uncertain futures. It also encourages students to be creative, innovation, and fosters collaboration among their peers to identify problems they have never encountered before, which is a skill that will be very useful for their futures. I believe by participating in YE program, the students don’t just become ready to create their own futures — they become ready to change the world
